2009 Gala Emcee: Janet Stewart, host of CBC News at Six

Nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Anchor and as part of the ‘News at Six’ team for Best Newscast, Janet brings 15 years of journalistic experience to CBC. She has been hosting our supper hour newscast since 2007. Janet is well respected for her contributions to the community.

After moving here from her native Nova Scotia more than eight years ago, Janet has immersed herself in the city and is proud to call Winnipeg home. Janet has made connecting with the community one of her top priorities, lending her time and energy to many organizations.

When she’s not at work writing and delivering news that matters most to you, Janet likes to spend her time gardening or playing with her spoiled-rotten pug, Albert. CBC Manitoba is proud to call Janet Stewart one of our own.
