The Canadian Cancer Society is a national, community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.
Our vision is to create a world where no Canadian fears cancer.
The Canadian Cancer Society is the largest non-government funder of cancer research in Canada. The very best doctors are working in the very best facilities searching for medical advances in all 200 types of cancers. The Canadian Cancer Society is deeply committed to funding excellent research on all types and in all areas of cancer. Our donors fund this important research!
Each year, individuals, community groups, volunteers, independent businesses and corporations unite against cancer by supporting the Canadian Cancer Society’s Make Cancer History Gala Ball.
We invite you to join these collaborative efforts that allow the Canadian Cancer Society to continue the fight against cancer by funding world-class research, prevention initiatives, advocating for healthy public policy to reduce the burden of cancer for everyone, and providing information and support services to people affected by cancer. Your contribution can, and will, provide hope to people and their families currently battling this terrible disease in Manitoba.
In 2008 it is estimated that 6100 people in Manitoba will be diagnosed with cancer. This staggering total equates to 16 individuals each day! And for many of us these individuals are our families, friends and colleagues.
In 2007 the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division generated total revenue of $5.8 Million thanks to the efforts of thousands of volunteers and supporters. The Gala Ball Committee through its Make Cancer History Gala Ball has raised almost $1.5 Million since its inception!
By sponsoring the Make Cancer History Gala Ball your corporate contribution will assist us in achieving our mission to eradicate cancer and enhance the quality of life of people living with cancer. Please help us to continue to provide valuable services to support Manitobans. Last year we provided over 15,000 rides to treatment and cancer related appointments for cancer patients. We matched hundreds of newly diagnosed cancer patients with survivors, who have been there, to provide them with support through our Cancer Connection program. We offer Taking Charge Cancer Information and Support Group for cancer patients, family and friends in communities across Manitoba. Our website www.cancer.ca and our Cancer Information telephone service answered thousands of questions for Manitobans. We distributed over 30,000 Sun Sense bracelets to children to educate them on prevention and sun safety. And these are just a few examples of the services and programs the Canadian Cancer Society offers to Manitobans.
For 50 years the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division has been diligently working across the province assisting individuals through their personal cancer journey. In the 1940s only 25% of those individuals survived. Today 62% of them will win their personal battle. There is no doubt our donors have helped us change the world. When we succeed - we save lives. Thank you for partnering with us!
